Add online ELDT theory. Keep teaching behind-the-wheel.

Federal rules let theory and behind-the-wheel come from separate providers listed on FMCSA's Training Provider Registry. We deliver the theory online and submit each theory completion under our listing; your school keeps delivering behind-the-wheel.

Who does what

DLA Academy

  • Delivers ELDT theory online: Class A, Class B (and B to A upgrade), Hazmat, Passenger and School Bus.
  • Students must score at least 80% on the theory assessment.
  • Submits each theory completion to the registry under our provider listing, usually within minutes of the student confirming their details.

Your school

  • Delivers behind-the-wheel training, and must be listed on the TPR for the training it provides.
  • Submits its own behind-the-wheel completions.
  • Meets your State's licensing rules for in-person training.

Good to know: the provider that delivered the training is the one that submits it. Your school can't submit our theory under its TPR ID, and we don't submit your behind-the-wheel. Hazmat is theory only, completed before the Hazmat knowledge test. For Class A, Class B, Passenger and School Bus, both theory and behind-the-wheel must be on the registry before the skills test.

Check any theory provider before you rely on it

Since December 2025, FMCSA has removed thousands of providers from the Training Provider Registry, and training given after a provider is removed does not count. Look up any provider yourself, including us, at tpr.fmcsa.dot.gov.

Questions

Can a CDL school use a separate theory provider?

Yes. Federal rules allow theory and behind-the-wheel to come from separate providers, as long as both are listed on the FMCSA Training Provider Registry. Behind-the-wheel range and public road training must come from the same provider.

Who submits the completions to the registry?

The provider that delivered the training. We submit theory completions under our listing; your school submits its own behind-the-wheel completions.

Does our school need to be on the Training Provider Registry?

Yes, for the behind-the-wheel training it provides. Registering on the TPR costs nothing.

Is DLA Academy approved by FMCSA?

FMCSA does not approve or certify training providers. DLA Academy is listed on FMCSA's Training Provider Registry, and you can check the listing at tpr.fmcsa.dot.gov.

What score do students need?

At least 80% overall on the theory assessment.

What does the monthly plan commit us to?

Nothing beyond each month you keep it. You get the same seats invoiced every month and can cancel any time from your partner page. Each month's seats are a purchase like any other: final sale, valid for 12 months.

Is the permit practice test part of ELDT?

No. It is study material for the CDL permit knowledge test and is not filed with the registry.

Do you serve every State?

We serve 49 States. We are sorry, we do not serve students with a Washington license.
